High School Course Progressions

Algebra 1 End of Course Assessment

On March 17, 2020, the Florida Department of Education and Commissioner Richard Corcoran issued an executive order to support the Florida Division of Emergency Management to ensure the safety of Florida citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.  A component of that order canceled all remaining K-12 assessments for the 2019-2020 school year, including the Algebra 1 EOC.

What does this mean for students currently enrolled in Algebra 1, Algebra 1B or Algebra 1 Honors?

  • Your Algebra 1 or Algebra 1 B course grade will not have an Algebra 1 EOC factored in as 30% of your grade.  Instead, each semester will be posted as an individual semester grade comprised of the average of each quarter. Semester one grades will be the result of averaging quarter 1 & 2. Semester two grades will be the result of averaging quarter 3 & 4.
  • You are still required to meet the mathematics assessment graduation requirement prior to graduation.

How can you meet your mathematics assessment graduation requirement? You may use any of these options:

Makeup Work Requests

Missed class work for one or two days can be obtained directly from the student’s teachers. If a student is absent three days or more, makeup work may be requested by contacting your child’s counselor in the Guidance Office (285-1180), or by submitting a completed request form from on this page.

A twenty-four hour notice is needed to obtain the work before parent/guardian pickup. Students have the right to make up work missed because of excused absences or work missed because of the student’s first three days of suspension during a semester notwithstanding the fact that an absence caused by an out-of-school suspension is an unexcused absence.
